James M. Pocchia for NYC Council 2009
Pocchia will fight for:
1. De-mapping of the Richmondtown "Loop" and compel the NYC Department of Transportation to construct a community supported alternative
2. The construction of a new hospital or, in the short term, as an alternative, the immediate increase of HHC funding to Staten Island to a fair proportion comparable with our population.
(Staten Island - the only borough without a public hospital)
3. Increasing the current EZ Pass resident discount program to include a number of free passes over our bridges per month for all Staten Island resident EZ Pass participants.
(Staten Island - the only borough without a free passage to drive off of the island)
4. The elimination of the Unincorporated Business Tax for small businesses.
5. The development of an East Shore dog park.
6. The revitalization of the Midland Beach promenade to include shopping and restaurants
7. The development of a partnership program between local autism support groups and community based organizations that can supply daily delivery of meals to allow parents to devote more time to their special needs children.
8. The implementation of a Driver Tolerance Program and partner with insurance companies to obtain insurance discounts upon completion of program.
9. Creation of a Staten Island Health Crisis Task Force comprised of doctors, nurses, administrators, and community members to develop better health programs.
10. Permanent increase in the number of pot hole repair crews to fix our crumbling roads
